*splutters off* [Aug. 10th, 2004|06:38 am]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |draineddrained]

It was like a doctors waiting room at work tonight... Mary with migraine, me feeling fluey still and coughing my guts up all the time, 2 people off sick - one being Jui-ehh!! with conjunctivitis... and 2 people went home sick during the night...

Combination of unbearably hot stuffy weather and crap air 'filtration' system picking up germs from one end of the MDEC and blowing them out on us at the other. Yuck!

I'm rather run down, but I can't let it get in the way of things. Too much to do.

I have a stuffy headache and my cough has gone to my chest instead. I'm going to bed.

thats the thing with callcentres; too many people are in feeling a bit snuffly and combiniung their germs in insufficient aircon. leads to high levels of sickness, which is combatted by draconian policy, means people come in when they are infectious... vicious circle indeed.

Re: so would you like to come over for.......

I can't. I have to pack still and I would make Tomas ill, which you wouldn't be too happy about...

I have just rung my mother - she is bringing round a couple of random veggie ready meals from her freezer and 3 quid, plus a box of Panadol. She's passing them to me at arms length because she's going into hospital for some tests next week and doesn't want to get my lurgy lol!!

Re: so would you like to come over for.......

Might well do. Depends if I'm in a packing frenzy or not.

My mother has been round and delivered:

A tin of red kidney beans
Tin of Tuna
Tin of chicken/mushroom soup
Frozen potato and spinach bake.
Box of Panadol

...and three quid.

Random!!

There was some smug prat from "a right-wing think-tank" on Radio 5 at the weekend, he described the Royal Mail's sickness/absenteeism record as "taking the piss". He's obviously totally right, cos he's in a think tank and all that innit, and like, well, anyone who says they 'have a cold' is just shirking, yeah? Innit, cos like it affects 'profitobilitity' or something.

Hah, you'd have thought that idiot had never had an ill day in his life.

Yup. If you're ill because of stress or whatever due to someone else then that's ok and you don't (generally) get a stage warning because they sympathise (which is why I got away with going on Stage One three times before I was issued it).

If you're ill because you caught it off someone else and it happens to be going round and round and round (in one filter pipe and out the other), then you get a stage warning because you are just plain ill and there's no excuse for that lol!

Hah, if you get ill from someone else at work, either directly or indirectly, you're clearly at fault for not doing anything to avoid it- er, no, oh judt stop snivelling and get back to work before I set the dogs on you, wench!

Was in bed dying till 3.30 when I was rudely awakened by the doorbell.

Now I'm sat here starving and with NO DRUGS!!

I'm out of nurofen/ibuprofen...think I ought to ring my mother and cry for sympathy?

I'm glad your mummy has been round with supplies. Poor vampgirl, being ill sucks arse bigtime, especially if you have things to do.
I think we both need a spicy beanburger right now.
Sends big hugs
