Catching Up... [Mar. 15th, 2005|03:46 pm]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |happyhappy]

Apologies to one and all for not being around on teh interweb for soooo long!!

Since moving day (the last time I posted) we have been settling in, sorting out furniture, going to gigs, clubs, parties, theatre, college, work...blah di blah...

And I don't have internet access at our new flat; neither have I had any wish to visit the Mothership since it was getting VERY difficult before we left...

As it is, she's now in the front room teaching a lesson and I've snuck up to do laundry and pick up a few things - parents are both busy so I've dived onto the computer... I'm still being bitched at for the tiny things I've left behind - right down to stupid little word documents on her computer *sigh*. She can't deny me the use of it though - she knows I need it for college work.

Anywho, Mike went back up to London yesterday to pack up his things and collect the kitty - he's coming back on Saturday and will be shifting stuff down here later in the week. Yay! We are still waiting for the black leather sofa we've ordered from Dingles (House of Fraser) to arrive too - will be fun getting that in, as twill have to be manouvred through the front window...

After I saw him off on the train I did an impulsive thing with the keys I've had kicking around from my old flat - the one in Stoke with the ex-boyfriend... And for the first time since Octover, actually wrote something! The following jumble of lines are in honour of the drain which swallowed them up so happily:

Goodbye Old Keys

With a happy little PLOP!
I dropped my keys
Down into the waiting drain
And smiled. I'd kept them awhile
But I won't be going there again.

Goodbye old keys,
I have a better place now -
New keys new home
With a new relation
Step-by-step in the right direction.

And then, crossing the Plain
I gave the creme egg in my pocket
To a blanket-buried tramp outside KFC.
He needed chocolate more than me.

..........................................

For the moment, I'll post here when I can, but don't expect it to be as regular as it used to be for a while...

*hugs to all*

PCs at ours are (almost) always available, if either one of us are in..

and when we move (long story) we're (in theory) going to be closer to Mutley (corner of Alexandra road and either Southern Road or Crozier..)

PS Quay club on thursday, my BD, if you can make?

I'm free all day every Monday till 9pm when I go to work unless I'm doing overtime from 6pm - which I'm doing most of Easter...

Tuesday: college 12.25-1.25 then work 9pm - 6am
Wednesday: Theatre 6pm - 9pm then work
Thursday: college 2.45 - 4.45 then work at 9pm
Friday: college 2.45 - 4.45 then work at 9pm
Saturday: free so far
Sunday: free generally

As I finish work at 6am every morning bar Sunday/Monday and subsequently sleep till about 12/1pm (unless it's a Tuesday) it looks like finding a decent time to come over could be seriously difficult:/

Eeeee!!! Looks like Sundays might be the only day I have free *groan*

What a great poem! It made me smile; it's wonderful when we can make symbolic and actual breaks with the past like that... and what better way than with a set of keys getting slurped down by the drain! (I hope your drain's not clogged though!)

It had to be done - and I felt really good about it... I wandered along looking down drain holes all the way home until I found one that seemed hungry - and not likely to block and cause flooding... It had a nice amount of deep murky sludge/water at the bottom too, which belched like a mudspring when the keys when plop into it hehe;)

Welcome back, honey.
I liked your little poem about the symbolic and cathartic act of disposal of old keys. I have very similar tendencies myself and often get quizzical looks for such acts, despite their obviousness being, well, obvious.

On an entirely separate note, Wifeage™ and I will be in Bath from the 12th to the 14th of April, returning on the 15th, and will be available in the evenings at this stage. Maybe we could arrange something mutually beneficial. It would be lovely to meet up with you if at all possible. Advance notification, though - our available funds will be tight at this stage in the masterplan.

Argh!! Not sure if that will be possible as I generally leave for work at about 9pm and start getting ready 'round 8:/

I'll have a proper looksee in diary and schtuf to check what my schedule is for college/theatre/etc and then text you as soon as I've found the card you sent - I think it's in a box in the back bedroom with everything that I planted about the tv in my old room;)

*big hugs back*

If you eMail me your cellphone number again (I sat on my previous handset, breaking the screen if you recall), I will text you back straight away, thus providing you with my number.
We hope this finds you both well.

Leather Settee

I had a new leather settee delivered from DFS about 18 months ago. The delivery guys couldn't get it in the front door so it had to come in the back way through the shed. Even then we had to take the little black legs off the back so that it would go through the doors.

Re: Leather Settee

Eeep!!

I'm getting rather worried about ours - it's a 3-seater so it might be difficult to manouvre down from the ground level into the basement front window... If it won't fit it will have to go back I suppose and try it out with the 2-seater lol...

Re: Leather Settee

I might get to Blackatz next week.
