Went walking through this city's neon lights... [Mar. 2nd, 2004|08:38 am]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |crankycranky]
[Music |Bauhaus : Dark Entries]

All present life is but an Interjection,
An 'Oh!' or 'Ah!' of joy or misery,
Or a 'Ha! Ha!' or 'Bah!' - a yawn, or 'Pooh!'
Of which perhaps the latter is most true.

- Don Juan (1819-24) canto 15, st.43.
George Gordon, Lord Byron

My sleep pattern is all screwed up, well, not as you'd understand it...you'd consider it correct...but I have to go back to work tonight after a glorious 10 days off...

*grumble*

Back on the nightshift, 10pm to 6am, re-joining the hive in the tappity-hum of drone keying...and I've been awake since 7am already...

I'm going to have to go back to bed for a snoozle at some point, even though I won't be remotely tired...and force myself back into the nightowl schedule once again.

Sucks! Just when I was beginning to get used to daylight too...I could feel the energy slowly seeping in whenever I went out and was bathed in golden light. Ahh well, back to the moontan.

*shiver*

To this end, I have no plans for today... I suppose I shall merely catch up on laundry, clean the kitchen, and hunt down my pass for getting into work...

I threw it somewhere last week, and now I have NO CLUE as to its whereabouts lol!!

Favourite Art

Today is the turn of Francis Bacon...

Whee-hooo!!! I love these (one more under the cut)...

I must admit I'm rather smug about my coupling of Nick Cave's 'The Mercy Seat' with Pope Innocent X melting as well hehe!!!

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds : The Mercy Seat

It began when they come took me from my home
And put me in Dead Row,
Of which I am nearly wholly innocent, you know.
And I'll say it again
I..am..not..afraid..to..die.

I began to warm and chill
To objects and their fields,
A ragged cup, a twisted mop
The face of Jesus in my soup
Those sinister dinner meals
The meal trolley's wicked wheels
A hooked bone rising from my food
All things either good or ungood.

And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of truth.
An eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die.

Interpret signs and catalogue
A blackened tooth, a scarlet fog.
The walls are bad. Black. Bottom kind.
They are sick breath at my hind
They are sick breath at my hind
They are sick breath at my hind
They are sick breath gathering at my hind

I hear stories from the chamber
How Christ was born into a manger
And like some ragged stranger
Died upon the cross
And might I say it seems so fitting in its way
He was a carpenter by trade
Or at least that's what I'm told
Like my good hand I
tatooed E.V.I.L. across it's brother's fist
That filthy five! They did nothing to challenge or resist.

In Heaven His throne is made of gold
The ark of his Testament is stowed
A throne from which I'm told
All history does unfold.
Down here it's made of wood and wire
And my body is on fire
And God is never far away.

Into the mercy seat I climb
My head is shaved, my head is wired
And like a moth that tries
To enter the bright eye
I go shuffling out of life
Just to hide in death awhile
And anyway I never lied.
My kill-hand is called E.V.I.L.
Wears a wedding band that's G.O.O.D.
`Tis a long-suffering shackle
Collaring all that rebel blood.

And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of truth.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die.

And the mercy seat is burning
And I think my head is glowing
And in a way I'm hoping
To be done with all this weighing up of truth.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And I've got nothing left to lose
And I'm not afraid to die.

And the mercy seat is glowing
And I think my head is smoking
And in a way I'm hoping
To be done with all this looks of disbelief.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth
And anyway there was no proof
Nor a motive why.

And the mercy seat is smoking
And I think my head is melting
And in a way I'm helping
To be done with all this twisted of the truth.
A lie for a lie
And a truth for a truth
And I've got nothing left to lose
And I'm not afraid to die.

And the mercy seat is melting
And I think my blood is boiling
And in a way I'm spoiling
All the fun with all this truth and consequence.
An eye for an eye
And a truth for a truth
And anyway I told the truth
And I'm not afraid to die.

And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
A life for a life
And a truth for a truth
And anyway there was no proof
But I'm not afraid to tell a lie.

And the mercy seat is waiting
And I think my head is burning
And in a way I'm yearning
To be done with all this measuring of truth.
An eye for an eye
And a truth for a truth
And anyway I told the truth
But I'm afraid I told a lie.

Whitby will be lovely!

Nice picture...uber glam! Brill that you're gonna give Whitby a go, perhaps we'll see you there?! Here is a rather helpful site to find accommodation and also the Live Journal community as well, which is rather helpful:

Re: Whitby will be lovely!

Thankyou:)) That pic was an utter fluke, but there you go lol:))

Hopefully I will see you there...as I've never been before I'm not going to know ANYBODY...and I'm a bit scared of that, despite my extrovert appearance on lj lol...

I have no clue what to do with the ticket when I get it, who I'm supposed to give it to...where to go or ANYTHING:((

Any accommodation you'd recommend? I don't know what places are nearer the town centre etc etc...the only picture I have of what Whitby looks like is mostly gleaned from reading Stoker lol!!

Hopefully I'll wangle a lift from somewhere, but if that fails it'll be train travel...and as I don't know the town I'm liable to get very very lost indeed...

(even approaching 30 (June) I'm going to feel a little like a 'whitby-virgin'...utterly clueless and liable to embarrass myself unintentionally hehe)

*hugs*

Meaty, with purpose. It's what I love about his stuff, it's people disintegrating, bodies without the manners to hang together :)

Personally I wish it would go straight from this time of year to autumn ans skip summer entirely.

They say that sunlight is essential for keeping you in a good mood, but personally I say that sunlight and good moods are both over-rated!

I entirely agree...

Sunlight makes my eyes hurt...and I'm NOT in a good mood...

(though I'm blaming the fact that I have to go back to work, and hate it...and I've had too much coffee...)

*grumble*

You can safely add work to the list of things that are over-rated.

Trust me, that one was straight on the list several months back...and I'm not keen on the fact that I'll be walking home in the dark past lots of empty park/wasteland any time between 3:30 and 6am.

*screams*

I usually sing/talk to myself loudly all the way home...that way I think any potential mugger will worry I've already woken the neighbours before they try anything:(

*crank whine crank whine x repeat to fade*
