Lethe - An Awakening

From Lethe I had dredged myself,
Hauling this carcass sodden from the banks,
To stand, blinking, in the garish light of day;
Crying out, the whole world 'round:
"Come take me! I am blind and lost!"

The darkness settles;
I am myself once more.
Vague, luminescent shadows flit amongst the trees
as I make my way along that twisting path,
The moon full-lit and glowing as befits her ghastly orb.

Yet, in her I find comfort.
And, enveloping myself in the warm blanket of this night,
I take her hand as she leads me onwards.

I heard an interview with Rob Grant of Red Dwarf fame talking about writing (albeit not poetry, admittedly), and he pretty much said he used to just sit and write loads "to get all the crap out of my system". Also Aphex Twin used to believe that one in 20 of his tracks were any good. You just mark things down to experience and carry on. Ignore me, I never take my own advice ;)

That poem wasn't too bad, it concentrated on the emotiong and didn't fall into the usual trap of just going flowery for flowerys' sake. And yes, very Nick Cave. It's the bodies-in-the-river bit, I felt.

Lyrics.

Erm.........Interesting.I like them.
Have been busy sorting out Mick's Trace Eliott rig @ the Cooperage,
finished up blasting the whole place for over 4 hours!Got a text
from Ruby Jive @ 0615 this morning(sent at 19:50 last night!)stating
that I've a Band meeting at 1 2day @ Merts' House. "Band!" I thought,
"Wot Bloody Band?" Anyway, turns out that Nik Brooks has arranged it
and I'm playing Bass in the Coop for Don Fox's tribute gig. Oh my.
Havent gigged in 12 years, and that was on drums! Have now just 3
weeks to learn 1) Instrument, 2) 45 Minute set, 3) How to keep calm
when 500 peeps are staring at you, most of which will be our 'older'
elite local musicians. Valium, valium, where for be thy Val. Anyway.......
It's amazing that you've done these Lyrics 'cos I came up with another
wierdo Synthy Bassy Thingy whilst Coop Amp testing which i think might
just fit. Oh, have bought the new Panasonic Battery 4Ur Filming.
Now I guess I have to stay up from my Bed and Freddy, revert to sorting out a clients 'Watkins Copicat'(circa 1960!, finish Biasing a Fender De Ville, and then find out where the hell 'Mert' lives (He's the Guitarist)so if you see an age-ed Goth in TopHat with BassGit strolling around looking lost,cold,hungry and poor....IT'S ME!!
cHOW 4 nOW Chinky,

Spikelet.
