Theatre Weirdery and Even Weirder Whitby Photos!! [Apr. 30th, 2004|08:27 am]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |accomplishedaccomplished]
[Music |SBA / Deathboy RAR!!]

Went into town at 3pm and met Shauny again. Went in Claire's Accessories and bought some black rose and feather corsages for my hair, along with some flappy-net hairband things for when I have it in bunches...then we had coffee in Dingles, and wandered around town for a bit (wanted to go to the Art Gallery, but it was closed:/) before I went to 'A-Live' rehearsals at theatre.

Spent most of the evening working on various exercises which involved walking around in the dark, feeling for a group 'moment' of rapport and then falling over - the usual kind of thing...then some crying/laughing sequence and a whole set of pieces in which we acted with our backs to the audience...my group did a crowd of people trying to see over the wall at a football match - see the footy without having to pay - and involved much jostling, jumping and piggy-back attempts!! Twas fun!!

We also worked with some text and moving around the room either in a grid or a curve, each running the text contrapuntally, whilst the rest of us performed movements which reflected an 'adult state'. Did this to music, and was most peculiar...but then again, we are working on experimental theatre lol!!

Had to rush off at 9pm and go to work - which was a little boring, but made more interesting as I was listening to deathboy's Sampler 6 (most enjoyable!!) and mister_ed's band 'Screaming Banshee Aircrew' : two freebie promo cds which I had picked up at Whitby.

Both were excellent, and kept me entertained until my batteries ran out on the cd player - grah!! I think it's high time I added a 'Goth Bands' page to vampgirl.com...

Got out of work at 6am, and have spent the rest of the morning uploading my Whitby Pics to my Yahoo Photo Album :

"Whitby Pics : Scream And Run For The Hills!!"

Taken effing forever on dialup AO-Hell, but I hope you'll enjoy viewing the incriminating evidence of my weekend;)

Going to bed now...it's 9:44am despite the time on this post...and I'm pretty darn shattered to be honest!!

(pilfered from scar_let:

You are an elitist bastard. You hate people that try too hard, actually you just hate people in general. You have excellent taste in alcohol, however, and probably have an excellent collection of classical and experimental music.

What kind of goth are you?

Wow, the view of the sea and the town from that graveyard is breathtaking. I can imagine it was quite peaceful up there.

You look fab in those pictures too, was everyone equally stylish there?

It was fairly quiet...and was about the only damn place I could get a mobile signal!!

Went up the 199 steps in silly heels and corsetry rofl!!

It was an entertaining mix of grungy-goth, posh goth, tarty goth, cybergoth, victoriana and the downright peculiar - I fit right in!!

Number 6, 7 and 8 were taken by two random tourists, who asked to photograph me as soon as I got to the top of the steps exhausted!!

The halation? Dodgy night-mode camera blur is all;)

"Is it the Whitby Gothic Weekend?," he asks, voice quavering with longing.

I just read a Simon Clark short story called "The Whitby Experience," which is quite good. I think you'll like it since it alludes to that place where Stoker stayed for a while. It's available in the anthology called October Dreams.

Wow. Whitby is also a cute little port (we have a few similar ones in Normandy).

You look great on pic #6. Hmm, I'll refrain from saying more. :)

I listened to deathboy's music some time ago, and it was rather good. Especially this song:

Honestly, I travel 10 hours on the train and spend the weekend saying 'It's just like Cornwall!!'... I felt very at home indeed;)

Refraining, eh? Oh dear! *grin*

Deathboy sort of reminds me of NIN, but a bit more melodic, like The Cure in places...that is a good song!

Now, imagine if I had travelled DAYS to go there to wind up saying "It's just like Normandy!!!" - LOL!

I *was* hot - the weather was terrible - too hot and sunny, and I felt quite dangerously migrainous the whole time...

Ooh...postage!! Your mini-package will be on its way this week...collecting bits of 'local' stuff and piccies;)

*MWAH* back:))

You look great, and those photos are really cool! :)

I would love to be able to attend an event like that.
oh -- and do they let people walk up to the ruins?
A place like that would be so much for doing photoshoots.

Those photos only came out looking cool by chance...I was rather snap-happy and thankfully have an Olympus Superzoom that can take a decent shot in a hurry;)

You should come over for the next one in October...you can walk amongst the ruins to get MUCH better photos; just I was on a budget and didn't want to pay the 4 quid to get into the grounds - leant on a wall out the back hehe;)
