In which I mess about with a De Vere 504 and discover how to boil an egg... [May. 20th, 2004|06:42 am]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |awakeawake]
[Music |GMTV : I want to sleep...stop sounding so damn cheery!!]

Busy busy busy day 'twas yesterday...so much so, that I was a bit vague in conversation come 9:20pm, even before work...

Got dropped off to college by my father at ten to six...made a contact sheet of my film in the Darth Room, picked the one I wanted to play about with (Shauny and the Angel)...spent an age doing test strips and whatnot, ended up with a rather pale print - needs a longer exposure time, but I ran out of time in lesson for satisfactory tweakage...

(that machine still feels like cheating!)

Went to Voodoo Lounge with Shauny afterwards...gasping for a drink - too darn hot - had half a beer in the pub then went to work...

*vague head happened*

Then started keying...

Was under the impression that I was due to get a bollocking for going over Stalag Grimshaw's head to the shift manager yesterday to get the night off work - not so much an impression, more that she'd told me so - but that never happened lol!!

Either she was too busy or the PMT had gone and she'd thought better of it...

Spent the majority of the night covering duty obs inbetween typing the usual slew of crappily written/printed addresses...

And spent my time most constructively indeed; crossword, a picture of a sunset over a lake using the spraycan option in MSPaint...

Pondered about bleaching my fringe to dye it purple/dark red...not sure...then came back from an hour of obs cover to have Jui-ehh!! ask me if I knew how to boil an egg.

She and James were dependant on me being able to answer the question, as neither of them knew...but I had to admit that I had NO IDEA how to do it either...not without following my Good Housekeeping Cookery Book anyway...

*sheepish grin*

I also discovered that Jui-ehh!! has been dreaming as me; proof being that she dreamt (amongst other things) about my recent foray through York train station on the way to Whitby, and that she was in London on her own...peculiar childe...

Was GUTTED INDEED to find that there was a doc on telly about Hieronymus Bosch between 11:20pm and 12:20am on BBC 2...

The Delights of Hell: A glimpse into the surreal and disturbing world of the 16th C gothic artist, celebrated for his depictions of hell.

GUTTED is NOT even close...Bosch is my ALL TIME favourite artist...the most influential on my artistic leanings/ideas and whatnot over years and years and years...

I shall seek out a copy of that doc and make it my own...

Anyway, that was my evening/night...it's almost 7am now, bright unrelenting sunlight and I have to go to bed.

Got to be up fairly early - need to go in town and get a stud for my lip, as I don't want to risk wearing a lipring during our performances for the four day Theatre Do experimental theatre festival next week (aaaah!!) - and it might catch too much in the light anyway...

Then I have rehearsals all evening which will probably leave me in pain before work later on today...

*descends to the pit*

GMTV? Ick, poor you :(

Eggs - pan of water, boil, insert eggs, put timer on for four minutes when eggs go in, remove eggs and bathe in cold water when timer goes off. Eat. Yum!

Alternatively, eat porridge whilst wearing pyjamas.

And having had the misfortune of seeing that at Whitby whilst visiting elves_uk, elfee and _lois_, I think you need a lesson in how to make porridge;)

I hadn't made porridge in a long time. The grill was a bit weedy so that ruled out bacon sandwiches (as did being around vegetarians, and I won't do things around people who really don't do them).

Bacon Sandwiches forevah!

Thought of Facon?

(yes, it's fake bacon - veggie-style;))

Also removing eggs from fridge ahead of time helps as chilled egg+boiling water often= cracked eggshell.
May I enquire with mundane curiosity exactly what strange inscriptions you spend your nights deciphering?

Ahh, I'll pass that info on to Jui-ehh!!!

I thought it might be because she was buying cheap battery eggs, and therefore the shells would be thinner due to unhealthy birds.

Strange inscriptions?

Mostly YO12, SE23, E17, UB7, GIR OAA, Ctrl+E (freepost), F1, F8, F2, F5, more postcodes, Burton on Trent, Stratford Upon Avon, more random place names... That sort of thing...

Everyone has a different method of boiled eggs... I stick the egg into the water as it boils, switch the gass off and ignore for three. If it's too soft when yuo crack the top off, wrap in cling film and return for another minute. :)

She'll look back on that in 15 years and have a wry chuckle at herself, wondering a) how she came to think that and b) how the hell she got the attention.
