Bowie is my King!! [Sep. 18th, 2004|06:32 am]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |awakeawake]
[Music |David Bowie : Life on Mars?]

Quickie: Things turn up where you least expect them. If you lose a watch, check the freezer!
Overview: Check you out -- you've still got a parade of admirers! Whether you know it or not, you're doing something right. Choose one, and spend some quality time playing 'getting to know you' games.

Choose??? Oh bugger... I'm rather enjoying being single too much right now - I'm extremely busy and it's nice just to do what I want to do and not have to worry about anybody else...

Even if I do have 'options'...

Information provided by Petersons.com

DEFINITION: (adjective) overly proud
EXAMPLE: The fashion model strode down the runway, her hips thrust forward and a haughty expression, like a sneer, on her face.
SYNONYMS: arrogant, cavalier, lofty

(or at least, a POSH PICNIC day...)

Spent all night at work being anti-social with my headphones on and listening to David Bowie - my old 2 cd copy of The Singles Collection. If I were to do a Top 10 of my favourite albums (no mean feat since I listen to SO much stuff...) this collection would rate VERY highly indeed amongst my favourite Nick Cave, Depeche Mode, Sisters, Bauhaus etc etc. The only thing above it would be Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B-Minor - but thats a guaranteed sobtastic flood every time...

Anyway...almost every song on these two cds has the uncanny ability to somehow either lift me right up in jubilant/drunk but happy anthem or reduce me to floods of tears with an instant lump in my throat... With the exception of the two live tracks (which I cannot bear) they're all SO wonderful...

I snivel my way on a 'lonely-romantic-but also uplifted' trip through 'Drive In Saturday' and even more so (time to reach for the bucket) when listening to 'Absolute Beginners'...

I feel like a miserable old fogeygoff who's pickled her liver and isn't a very attractive drunk anymore (or long-suffering nightshift worker going home) whilst listening to 'Rock'n'Roll Suicide' and want to roll along drunkenly but happily waving a bottle in the air to 'Alabama Song'...

I've been trawling Amazon and, to my surprise, found a lot of variation in the tracklisting as there are several different versions of this cd, but mine is the old 2-cd set and has the cover pictured above but the tracklisting of the version listed HERE!!.

David Bowie - Rock 'n' Roll Suicide

Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth
You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your
The wall-to-wall's calling, it lingers, then you forget
You're a rock 'n' roll suicide

You're too old to lose it, too young to choose it
And the clock waits patiently on your song
You walk past the cafe but you don't eat when you've lived too
You're a rock 'n' roll suicide

Chev brakes are snarling as you stumble across the road
But day breaks instead so you hurry home
Don't let the sun blast your shadow
Don't let the milk floats ride your mind
So natural-religiously unkind
Oh, no, love! you're not alone

You're watching yourself but you're too unfair
You got your head all tangled up, but if I could only make you
Oh, no, love! you're not alone

No matter what or who you've been
No matter when or where you've seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
I've had my share, so I'll help you with the pain
You're not alone, just turn on with me
You're not alone, let's turn on and be
You're not alone, gimme your hands
You're wonderful, gimme your hands
You're wonderful, gimme your hands

'Nuff said.

Too Much Harry Potter??
(dodgy bastardisation of 'Weasley is Our King')

Bowie's songs are just my thing -
His lyrics pull all the right strings -
That's why he always makes me sing:
Bowie is my King!

Bowie is my King!
Bowie is my King!
Bowie's songs are just my thing -
Bowie is my King!!

*runs and hides*

(actually, it's a rather good excuse to go upstairs, smoke a cigarette - and re-dye my hair in preparation for picnicking later on today...)

I'm hoping the weather will improve - we're all gathering at mine at 12ish - if we're not up on the Hoe we'll be in the Nowhere...

I have shortbread, fancy iced buns and four LARGE belgian buns that look like two pairs of breasts lol!!

I'll be out at Tramps in the evening, though currently I'm about 3 quid short of the entry fee.

Oh well, beg, borrow or scrounge;)

If we're not on the Hoe we'll be in The Nowhere Inn on Gilwell st... I'm still stuck at mine waiting for the slowpokes to show up - been awake since 4pm yesterday and not eaten since 8pm yesterday either...

The picnic on the Hoe started at 12 - we may as well go straight to the pub when they eventually get here...

I have that CD set as well. However, this guy I was "seeing" was supposed to cover "Sorrow" on the 1st disc with me so I let him borrow it. He turned out to be a cretin, adn I never even bothered getting the disc back because it would mean seeing him again. I sort of regret that now.

I know how that feels - vimster sent me some good cds for my birthday and I lent them to a guy I was seeing in Brum - I got dumped, he's moved house and I have no idea where he (or my very much missed cds) are now:/

He also has my copy of Divine Comedy's 'Absent Friends' that divine_debris sent me too:((

Men are morons!!!
