I was knackered by then, but no longer sleepy as I'd been abusing the Pro-Plus again in an effort to stay awake!!
Saturday morning (was it really yesterday?), I stayed up after work the night before (getting up at 4pm Friday) and re-dyed my hair, then went out to Safeway for POSH PICNIC food - lots of ginger beer, shortbread, normal bottles of lager, four belgian buns that looked like boobies, packs of buns, plastic cups... I packed them all with binbags to sit on and a green checkered tablecloth. missbumpkin and wildgift93 arrived to collect me at about 1pm and they'd got quiches, stuff to make cucumber sandwiches, pitta bread, humous, dips and things...
We picked up bringmestars and genexxa from the Nowhere and went to the Hoe where we found the 'men' (Chris Wilsher, Maff etc) having more of a drunks day out than a PUNX PICNIC - as they were sat up in the shelter by Smeaton's Tower with cd player blaring... Their picnic consisted nothing more than two bottles of Buckfast tonic wine for Chris and 'carefully prepared' cider and black for Maff lol!!
We spread out our tablecloth, all the fancy food we brought and had our POSH PICNIC... All were most impressed. By about 3pm loads of other people had turned up and were sat about with drinks, lots of photos were taken and I'll put them up when I get them put on cd.
So, the POSH PICNIC was a SUCCESS but the PUNX PICNIC was more a PUNX PISSUP than anything else lol!!
ranatash_moon arrived as well, so I got to say hello, and we all sat and chatted for a few hours, ate too much and drank lashings of ginger beer until bringmestars and genexxa had to go, so missbumpkin, wildgift93 and myself went up to the Nowhere for a cup of tea and shortbread.
We stayed in the pub till about 8pm, when the two girlies went off back home for Chinese takeaway and I went down to Tramps with ranatash_moon and his friend.
Got there and found Chris a bit worse for wear from his Buckfast drinking earlier, Flux of Pink Indians and DevilRiders (Ralphy where were you?? WAAAA!!!) had dropped out of playing too, and the lineup was in a very confused (flexible) order... so I sat down and did door duty all night, taking people's money, stamping of hands, keeping an eye on who was coming in and going out - the usual. Which means I didn't get to speak to ranatash_moon and company as much as I'd liked, but we still had a good laugh hanging around where I was stationed at the door.
Don't know if it's my hormones putting out when I'm not aware of it or something - but most of the men last night appeared to be on heat. Was getting SO MUCH attention from blokes that I almost decided to keep a tally... Seriously - everything from 18 year old students called John from Oxford to mid-40's band members... Too many. Couldn't look anywhere without catching someone letching... and I wasn't even in corsetry - though I had raggy-netty tights on, my puffy net skirt and a velvet short-sleeved busty top thing, black fingerless gloves, Siouxsie makeup... Ho hum. Can't complain - tis good for one's ego;)
SO...WHO WAS ON??:
The first band on (Flick) sounded like Blink 182, and one of the kids looked like Prince Harry - I did the toothy face and foot-kicking a la Busted and we had a bit of a giggle... Then we had a band called 'The Worst' who were all out to shock with lyrics such as 'cunt fuck' followed by 'this is a song called 'Cunt' and had an amazingly good drummer who looked like he must be about TEN YEARS OLD. Crikey!!
Chris and I decided we should record the pussy speech from Dusk Til Dawn as a punk song as it was not dissimilar lol!!
Riot Act were pretty good, and I was impressed. Had a good chat to one of them about music/bands etc after. Red Letter Day were damned good - but OMG how people's appearance/things change after just 10 years. They're still going (new single out called 'Nettle' recently), but it seems to be only one guy left with some kid that might even be his SON on guitar... Damn good guitarist too, but Chris said he was below my age limit. Bah!!
Remember the Alamo were brilliant as ever - but I'm allowed to be biased as most of them work with me either on night or early shift and are mates so...
And CDS played last - the usual deafening cacophany with all of us heckling in a comedy fashion from the front (Mark McCann included) whilst Chris acted the idiot on drums lol!!
Don't know what happened to 'The Once Over Twice' - they might have played, but I lost track with dealing with lots of people coming in and paying and lots going in and out with amps, guitars etc...
Finally, (seven pro-plus and a strawberry mudshake with triple vodka later) we finished at about 2am, and I shared a taxi home with Keith and Matrix Si.
Got into bed about 2:30 and read the rest of Order of the Phoenix; waaaa!! I want more Potter!!
Today I am meeting up with missbumpkin and wildgift93 again, and we are off to the Nowhere for the last night of the PUNX PICNIC - more bands, more alcohol - but it's free to get in. Hopefully bringmestars and genexxa will be there too. We all have plans to go to the Skin Two Expo and Rubber Ball in London (cash permitting for me) at the start of October...wheeee!!!
