AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! [Mar. 21st, 2006|01:58 pm]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |busybusy]

Less than 12 weeks to the wedding and everything is hectic and half done...

Just got the printed invites delivered this morning, and now have to write them all, get addresses and post them.

Mike's frock coat is yet to be made - not even got fabric yet - and the rest of the costume hasn't been put together either, though I have ordered a rather nice tricorn hat.

My dress is all sorted except for alterations, purchase of veil etc. It's an ivory and gold embroidered bodice with corset lacing at the back, and a separate creamy/gold skirt with ruches all down the back and a big underskirt thingy. I have ivory satin granny boots, beaded ivory gloves that I got for 5 quid a pair in a charity shop (something old) and various other bits and bobs. Got to get a shawl tho.

Bridesmaids are in long maroon crushed silk and beaded gypsy skirts, with cream crinkle cotton pirate blouses, black and white stripy socks and mary janes, worn with a black lace spanish scarf.

Ushers and best man will all be in frock coats too...

Got my costume for 400 quid plus 90 for alterations, so saved about 450 which is being spent on a horse and carriage, and the bridesmaids skirts came from Monsoon at 22.50 each reduced from 75 quid each...

Being thrifty as possible, but the family reception is going to cost the most as expected.

Date set is 3rd June, will be spending the night at a posh hotel with a four poster bed and then in the parents static caravan at a lovely remote site with private beach and woods etc for the following week for free!!

I'm a little over stressed as there are also gigs lined up before hand and lots to do, but excited nevertheless.

Upcoming Gig etc

Supporting Seth Lakeman at the National Marine Aquarium on May 20th. Am playing 'cello in a modern folk group with Mike on drums, Bryson on violin, Steve and Alison Mason on Guitar/vocals and Boran respectively. Rehearsing every saturday night...

Mike has been gigging tons, is working 11-5 in The Drum Centre on and off, and has a gig at the Bac Bar this wednesday.

The parents have got their house on the market and are moving so I'm also having to clear out all my crap intermittently - mostly am trying not to think about the half ton of boxes in the garage that are likely to land in our flat soonish.

Ok, that's enough for now, just a quick update before I go and get on with other stuff...

Yes, so nice to hear all about this; the wedding sounds like a wonderfully suitable sea-side variation on ephemera's.
But do get that coat organised; we ended up with a bridegroom who had to dash ooff from the rehearsal to get a different seamstress to refit the sleeves on his, which the original person had inserted backwards!

Any tips would be appreciated:)

Neither ephemera nor I can think of anything helpful to say except get things in hand with plenty of time to spare to cover hitches, delays, misunderstandings and unreliable seamstresses!
Hope you find some beautiful fabric and the result is a triumph!
