Two Ridiculous Things [Jan. 23rd, 2007|08:04 pm]
Miss Von Trapp
[Location |Work!!!]

1. My dear husband is off MORRIS DANCING this evening.

Our friend Alison goes down every Tuesday to Cornwall to dance with CatsEye Morris, but her car broke down before Xmas so Mike has been driving down there, and sitting in the British Legion while she does her practice.

Only last week, he said he'd learn a dance.

Hmm. OK, Morris Dancing is fun when you're at a folk festival and pissed on mead, but I wouldn't begin to take it seriously. It's one of those things you shouldn't try. Like incest for example.

2. In other news, the kitten is on heat - and is keeping me up all night yowling round the flat. The ridiculous thing is she thinks Cassidy is a male (not a neutered female), and his following her around mewling. A lot of bitchslapping is going on from Cassidy's side.

Well, best be off.

Thought you'd find those two nuggetts of info amusing;)

I shall cherish that link forever! I particularly liked the video taken in Philadelphia, because it had occurred to me that Morris Dancers and the Philadelphia Mummers had quite a lot in common; I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought so!

OMG Fantastic!

I've not explored YouTube - the work computer doesn't buffer too well, but I've favourited it already... Hook Eagle Morris are on there - black faces, leathers and pheasant feathers - they're down as Evil Cornish Morris or something, but they're not from Cornwall - I think they're from Dorset or somewhere - but they are really nice chaps!

Ok, I've probably embarrassed myself enough now...

Mike's dance lesson went well btw, tho he had to hit big sticks with people and he is left-handed so it was, apparently, a bit tricky.
