Spooky!! The children are revolting... [Apr. 27th, 2007|01:15 pm]
Miss Von Trapp
My sister Helen came over on Tuesday and told me that the house we used to live in and parents moved out of last August has started getting physical ghost activity!!

We moved in when I was 13, my middle sis was 11/12 and Helen was 4 - and the house used to be a childrens home during the war.  We always felt comfortable there, but never felt alone when we were the only one in the house and could hear footsteps upstairs and random creakings.  The back room always felt cold, but we weren't bothered because we sort of knew that it was 'something else' that we were okay with and we never felt anything threatening in any way - except for a bit of the landing between the bathroom and the top landing that we always ran or jumped up as kids as it was a bit 'uncomfortable'.

The new couple, however, have no kids - and when my sis and dad went back last week to collect a shed, the woman told Helen what had been going on...  Apparently, the woman was in the backroom - which they are renovating - and felt a hand on her shoulder which then pushed her to the ground!

Also, a friend of hers was staying in the house a couple of weeks back and felt something slap her hard on the back in the downstairs passageway on the way to the kitchen one night!!

My mate Rich reckons the ghosts are children who are angry that there aren't any kids in the house anymore and they are trying to reach out physically to the adults in the house now.  They are trying to get attention in a childish tantrum way...

What's more odd is that Mum felt a hand on her shoulder and sort of felt that whatever it was was waving goodbye when she was alone at home on the night before both mum and dad moved out to their new house!!

Strange!!

That's strange as it is usually kids themselves (living) that are more susceptible to psychic phenomena.
We had a poltergeist in this flat once. It would throw things across the room and hide things you had only just put down.Sometimes I would see a shadowy figure looming over my bed and once, something even jumped on me while I was asleep....and no, we had no pets at the time. At that time, I had an 18 year old friend living with me who was secretly realising he was gay and was highly depressed and stressed. When he moved out, all poltergeist activity ceased and we have never seen it since.

Maybe it's the very fact that we, as kids, were open to psychic phenomena that made the ghosts in the house happy that we were there - a mutual acceptance?

Poltergeist activity is generally caused by stressed young people - I'd have freaked out if anything got thrown... ARGH!!

Quite possibly.
Have you looked into the history of the place properly?

My mother has, and has it all on paper etc. It's an old victorian terrace - the massive place opposite used to be a manor house with farmland all round, and is now a St Lukes care home.

Our house was built in the 1900's (I think), had a family in before us - with boys and a dog, two old sisters before that who lived there for years and years and years, and a children's home prior to that during the second world war. Before that I don't know, but mother does...

I think it's probably the children's home bit, and the two old ladies after them that's the most significant tho:)

That's so odd that their behaviour changed so much just from not having other children around. They must have really liked you!

Yes - but we're not really a normal family - and I was always rather into Beetlejuice and that sort of thing... I think we were maybe just lucky! I loved that house, and was rather upset that mum and dad were selling it last year!
