- okay, so this is probably pushing it off-topic somewhat, and if it's going to offend your family, delete this. If you're in the right frame of mind, this is a decent site.
Here's what a genuine 'deep south' baptist had to say about it on another site:" was looking at the past messages left in this guest book when I happened upon an August '02 message from Shreveport, LA about a web site for "Landover Baptist Church", supposedly located in Iowa. After looking at the site and realizing that it is a spoof on Baptist churches, I wondered if the Shreveport person who posted this on the ABA site is one of the perpetrators of this horrible site. If not, I hope he will visit the web page again and go to their "What We Believe" page, look all the way at the bottom where the following is printed: "This parody is copyright 1996-2001 Americhrist Ltd. All rights reserved." Just in case you didn't catch it, a parody is defined as "a spoof of; make fun of; a composition that imitates somebody's style in a humorous way; humorous or satirical mimicry." Believe me, I did not think it was humorous in any way. I would be interested in knowing who the developers of the Landover site are so I could pray for them by name that God will heal their spiritual sickness. If their talents were used for the Lord, I believe many would find the truth instead of blasphemy and confusion. Even if their names are not made public, God knows who they are. May He have mercy on their souls!"
I leave you to draw your own conclusions.
I've seen that site before lol!
Some of the sermons are really funny!
Sometimes, tho, I think it's funnier if you have been a part of a church yourself...you can recognise exactly what is being satirised.
(if that makes any sense)
Sadly tho, as was the case with Alf Garnett...some people just don't get satire.
