Alice in Wonderland and dogs on death row... [Sep. 16th, 2003|04:57 pm]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |blahblah]
[Music |Still got the Worm song in my head...many diff. versions!!]

I have begun re-reading 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass' for a film project I am involved with in alice_x...

Having read both books when I was probably about 7-ish and upon reading them again now, I am surprising myself with just how much 'Alice...' has influenced my sensibilities growing up...all the 'reeling and writhing and fainting in coils'...'speak roughly to your little boy and beat him when he sneezes, he only does it to annoy because he knows it teases'...everything I have read so far (I'm up to the Mock Turtle atm) is so vivid in my memory!!!

I recall that when I was about 10 or so...my friends and I had a gang, in which ALL we did was put on 'Alice In Wonderland' every Saturday...I was always Alice...and wore about 8 different dresses one on top of the other for convenient scene changes...we went under a chair in the garden for the rabbit-hole...and that was a supreme effort in all those layers...my sister was the White Rabbit and sang the Disney song...
(I'm late, I'm late, so very very late, no time to say hello, goodbye, I'm late I'm late I'm late, I'm overdue, I'm in a hurry too...blah blah)...then we'd all have a teaparty on the swings...I forget where it went from there, but it was an extrememly potted version of the story hehe.

And Snoopy as the 'Cheshire Beagle'...practising on top of his kennel always made me laugh too...

Ok, I'm going to stop reminiscing now...

I've been in and fed Marshall, I'm going to go and cook some liver in about half-an-hour...and the highlight of work last night (apart from teasing James about his Yahoo profile in which he lists hotmail as a favourite site, and texting and his girlfriend as a hobby) was an envelope with 'I am a poor puppy on death row at a dog market in South Korea' printed on the front...we speculated what form of death it would recieve, what its last chosen meal would be and whether or not it was required to wear an orange boiler suit, specially tailored for a dog...god, were we bored...

I didn't manage to get up early enough to go to the Swarthmore and find out about Japanese classes...it's probably too late anyway...but I will try to do so tommorow before I go to theatre for Weird Cabaret rehearsals...I've also emailed my director all that stuff about the Worm Song from Sunday hehe...so thankyou to everyone who helped with that!:)

Ta-ta for now, need a cup of tea!!

Food is always good. :)

Anna runs an asian mart a couple of blocks from where I live, and she teaches a cooking class like once a month. I need to look into that.
