They’re coming to take me away, ha-haaa! [Feb. 16th, 2004|12:09 am]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |drunkdrunk]
[Music |Buzzing compooter...chorus of the above song in my head!!]

Went to see 'Lost In Translation' at the Arts Centre with missbumpkin...

Oh damn it was so good!!

Lost In Translation (15)
Dir. Sofia Coppola, USA, 2003.
Cast. Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson.

In this film Bill Murray has 'Oscar Nominee' (if not winner) written all over him and if anyone doubted Sofia Coppola could follow the sublime The Virgin Suicides, they are surely eating their words. The film follows the tender growing friendship between Murray's cynical, world-weary Hollywood superstar in Japan to film a whiskey commercial and the young Johansson there with her photographer boyfriend. The two are cast adrift and lonely in an alien culture and find themselves drawn to each other, striking up a friendship that defies their different ages and backgrounds.

Wish I knew what he whispered to her at the end...was intentionally inaudible...

I've read a few theories now, check the IMDB forums for details!

Naturally, I staggered home drunk at almost midnight lol!!

They’re coming to take me away, ha-haaa!
by Napoleon XIV

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I’d go berserk?
Well...

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I’ve gone
Completely out of my mind
And...

They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right...

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I’m utterly mad!
And...

They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah...

Well you just wait
They’ll find you yet
And when they do they’ll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And...

They’re coming to take me away, HA HA
They’re coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I’ll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they’re coming to take me away, Ha-haaa! </a>

Boring fact from boring man:
the b-side of that Napoleon XIV record was merely the a-side played backwards, for taht extra mental effect. It's a brilliant record, and used to scare me when I was small, in a good way.

Re:

Oh, yes, it did, I remember that now. I had a 7" of it, in fact I think i had about 3 at one stage, those ex-jukebox ones with the middle bit missing.

Re:

Likewise:)

Like the Worm Song, it's one my father taught me lolol!!

(twisted parents, eh?)

I could only remember the chorus now though, and had entirely forgotten who wrote it, so thanks to serpentbearer I now know!!

Looking for an mp3 of it atm.

Strange place to reply, but..

Favourite Game: I loved Zelda-the Ocarina of Time on the N64...but I do have to confess I am unutterably addicted to Tetris in ANY format. At worst I have been known to dream in blocks *curls up in shame*

I'm almost finished Zelda - Four Swords on Gameboy Advance SP (I have the rust-red, if any other). Also, I play Tetris to an awful extent. Anything I see with a block-format (buildings, pictures, dreams, etc), I see Tetris, and I think which block could fit where. Sadly. I came across your LiveJournal from your website.

Amazing website.

That's all, I think.

Re:

Even sadder...I had the Tetris theme on my mobile phone for quite a while!!

Thanks for the comment on my website...I really need to put some effort into it again sometime, but I'm just plain lazy;)
