Just Plug Me In... [Mar. 4th, 2004|02:39 pm]
Miss Von Trapp
[Mood |awakeawake]
[Music |Duran Duran : Electric Barbarella]

Weird Cabaret last night was damned hard work, but we now have all three sequences mapped out successfully.

I'm not going to run through what happens in each sequence; I'll post an expounded running order and evaluation after the show on the 14th, however I'll give you some brief 'highlights' here...

The Madness of Love - Andy freeform-speedtalking about love, then a chanteuse (possibly me for one of the shows - don't know) singing 'And I Love You So'...which descends into a declaration of 'I love you/I hate you' with opposing gestures (i.e. I love you = slap, I hate you = kiss) and then continuing the song with self-mutilation : red pen...at which point the chanteuse screams and the Dada Duchess makes a paint mark to represent it on the wall...which moves into a 'paint mark choir' with all of us 'singing' the marks she puts up...

The Layers of an Onion - this stemmed from a suggestion I had that the layers of a person were akin to the layers of an onion or could be illustrated as such - and the 'Me, Myself and I' piece that Shakira, Elodie and I worked on...

"I love myself...I'm a loud, sexy creative person...I care too much about other people and not enough about myself...I deliberately don't give a shit sometimes as a self-defence mechanism...I analyse people/myself/actions too much...I'm scared and afraid that noone loves me...I'm desperate to be liked...I just want to crawl into a hole and not ever be found again"

(Yes, I'm an extroverted introvert lol!)

Only, in this instance, we will be making these statements and eating a layer of raw onion each time we say something...so that in the end we are crying, with tears streaming...

Not sure if I want to do this...it's not because I have to be open and self-critical...it's because I don't like raw onion...and I have to wear sunglasses when I cut it as my eyes sting like a bitch lol!

Songs - 'They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha Ha' (thanks be to serpentbearer for planting that seed)...but we've given it a contrasting blues/maniac melody...and 'Barnes and Barnes'' : 'Fishheads' (wheee!!! research queen!!)...

And the Herr Professor raises his ugly head again for A Madness Lecture...

"Ladies und Gentlemen, I bring you 'Madness'"

Worked on all sequences till 9pm, when I had to go to work. I now have rehearsal calls on Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 11am - 4pm for a vocal rehearsal...

Got to work and discovered that I can't have Friday 22nd April off at all...but I can have Monday the 25th...sucks, as that means I will be at work till either 3:30am or 6am on Saturday morning, and then travel up to Whitby (with no sleep) immediately after that...

This also means that I'll have to get the train, as I expect any potential lift will have travelled up on the Friday evening...aaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! So I won't get to Whitby until early afternoon on Saturday most likely.

Ho hum. I'll just have to make the most of my limited time there...and at least I won't be due back in work until 10pm Tuesday, so maybe I'll just stay longer to make up for it...

Oh, and I might be competing in the regional First Aid competition with a team from the MDEC at the end of May (I'm a qualified St.John's Ambulance First Aid for Work person). We might be going to somewhere in Notts for a hotel weekend and 'scenarios'... I'll be expecting someone to fall dead at dinner lolol!!

Off for Perception of Self Theology 101 at 6pm...that's 'A-Live' btw lol!! No doubt there will be more philosophical debate tonight, and I'll post a review of the evening tommorrow...

Need Coffee!!!

Oo, never heard of Arthur Rackham, was he an illustrator?

I was looking at the Whitby website the other day, out of interest. You'll miss all the intro bits! The rest looks diverting enough, and not unfriendly.

When I was 'wickle' I used to own an original colourplate volume of Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm packed to the brim with his illustrations...wish I knew where it was now:(

I also used to have an original victorian hardback of Peter Pan with his illustrations in, and also the 1941 Aesop's Fables.

I think I might have to go digging in my mother's bookcases, and the many many boxes (yes, more...and I have boxes enough in this flat) that I have stacked in the loft!!
